November 2025, a group of production geologists and ore control specialists from gold mining companies visited Chilean mining operations, including Codelco’s Chuquicomata, Chilean,s largest open-pit copper mine, and Pan American Siver company’s gold mine El Penon. Both mining operations are located in the Atacama Desert. Visitors discussed production exploration and grade-control drilling with Chilean geologists. During visits to mines and processing plants, they were shown automated sampling and ore control systems, resource and exploration modeling, stockpile management, and other practical aspects of production geology and ore control. The group visited highly automated remote control center of El Teniente mine. An extended roundtable discussion was held at REDCO Mining Consultants.
